A battle-damaged B17 Flying Fortress of the 447th Bomb Group on final approach to Rattlesden, returning from a strike against road and rail communications in Northern Germany, February 1945. A P51 Mustang pilot of the 359th Fighter Group, having escorted the injured bomber home, sees his charge safely back to its base in Suffolk.
